Nate Doss answer
[1]Why did you chose to come to the 2006 Japan Open?
There were many reasons for coming to the 2006 Japan Open. The first reason for coming is that it’s located in Japan, and I can’t wait to get there and meet the wonderful Japanese citizens. Also as the World Champion of the great sport I can’t wait to get there and represent my self and the sport to the best of my ability. It’s such an honor to be able to travel to a different country and represent your sport as the world champion.
[2]Where did you hear about the Japan Open?
I have heard about this wonderful tournament from many of the great players and past champions of this tournament. To name a few; Crazy John Brooks, Sam Farrens, Ken Climo, Steve Rico, Avery Jekens, Dave Feildberg, Marty Hapner and that’s just to name a few. They have all told how well they treat you there and how enthusiastic they are about disc golf.
[3]Even though this is an Open Division event, what division do you usually qualify for (specify Men's or Women's)?
I play Open Men’s.
[4]What is your hometown?
Capitola, CA (Santa Cruz County)
[5]What is your favorite disc?
Z-Hawk or X-Avenger
[6]Do you typically throw 150 class discs?
I have never thrown or have tried to throw 150 class discs. I have just recently ordered my 150 class stuff and will begin getting some practice in with them soon. I am looking forward to the challenge of mastering the 150 class range.
[7]How long have you been playing disc golf?
I have been playing disc golf for 14 years now. I started when about 7 years of age and by the time I get to Japan I will have turned 21.
[8]Do you play more for fun or for the competition?
I of course play for the competition. I have been competing in disc golf tournaments for about the last 11 years, and playing professional for about the last 6 of those 11.
[9]What is your most memorable event and why?
The worlds of 05? has got to be the most memorable tournament that I have ever played. To become the World Champion of this great sport was such and honor and privilege.
To play against great players such as Ken Climo, Barry Shultz, and Steve Rico who I have been looking up to for years and a child, and then to come away the victor was the greatest moment of my life so far and I hope that there is more to come.
[10]What is your goal for the Japan Open?
I have two goals that I would like to reach at this years Japan Open. The first is to play the best disc golf that I can and come threw the other side a Champion of the tournament. The second and more important in my eyes is to have fun and enjoy the Japanese culture. I can’t wait to get there and represent our country, the title, and myself the best that I can.
